On the 1st of July, we will be hosting a fundraising day in order to raise funds to help Cameron Allen attend a 10-day Meteorological Observers course in Aberdeen in August.
Cameron has been doing work experience at the airport throughout the last year and has taken part in almost all of the roles required at the airport throughout his time here.
Attending this course will allow him to record official observations (METARs), that are used to advise pilots on the local weather conditions.
Cameron has a keen interest in aviation and would like to pursue a career in the industry and this course will open up many opportunities for him in the future.
Cameron has a condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disease) which means that his whole family will have to travel with him to Aberdeen for him to attend the course. This will make the accommodation more expensive, and this fundraiser is to try to help to cover some of these costs.
On the day, we will begin with a walk around the perimeter of the airfield (roughly 3.6km) before coming back to the terminal building for a high tea and raffle.
There will be a costume competition for anyone that would like to come to the event dressed in their best aviation or weather themed costume. We would love if you were able to join us for a fun day!
If you are unable to attend the event, but would still like to donate to this cause, you can use this link: www.gofundme.com/oban-airport-fundraiser
All donations are greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing some of you on the 1st of July.
