Surprise Visitor

    Oban Airport was delighted to welcome a surprise visitor on Saturday 6th May when Spitfire G-MKVB dropped in en-route to engagements at Loch Ewe over the weekend. Piloted by Charlie Brown from Historic Aircraft Collection,  it returned remaining overnight before returning to Duxford on Sunday afternoon.   It attracted quite an interest from local and visitors alike and the

New Collision Avoidance Equipment Installed

    Collision avoidance has been enhanced around Oban Airport thanks to the installation of a FLARM receiver on site. Invented in 2004 FLARM was originally developed as a collision avoidance system for gliders and sailplanes and has further expanded into the General Aviation, light aircraft and UAV domains. There are now over 25,000 FLARM systems installed in aircraft worldwide.
