The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) have advised that they are running a number of student field practicals in Ardmucknish Bay, adjacent to Oban Airport, on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th September 2017.
Part of this will involve the release of an environmental tracer dye into the bay which is visible at very low dilution due to its fluorescence and has been specifically designed to be both safe to handle and safe in the environment. (The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency are aware and have no concerns with the proposed operations.)
Prior to its dispersal into the sea the dye may be observed as a red to dark-red colouration in the water, if seen from above (e.g. from Connel Bridge or aircraft using Oban Airport.)
Any concerns please contact Dr Anuschka Miller at SAMS on 01631 559300.
